Willetts Horse Farm is the premiere full service boarding facility in southeastern North Carolina. Owned and operated by Guy and Carol Willetts, they bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the first class care they give to your horse.
Carol Willetts has over 42 years’ experience in managing, riding and working with horses. Originally from New Jersey, Carol has been fortunate over the years to ride and work with a number of professionals at the top of the horse industry. Eventing was Carol’s first riding discipline many years ago but an allergen prevented them from the running and jumping that is required for that discipline. The horse was eventually diagnosed with COPD and treated. Their return to work was limited to the Dressage ring where they were successful though second level and discovered the benefits and correctness of bringing a horse along slowly and correctly.
Like, most horse women who ride at the amateur level, Carol who had purchased another horse by now had a full time professional career. It is the awareness of what it is like to have horses that require on going special attention and yet are so different that Carol brings to Willetts Horse Farm. The importance of getting your horse out on pasture, good nutrition, and the “laying on of hands “on a daily basis that Carol brings to the management of all the horses within her charge.
Guy Willetts was born and raised in Brunswick County and has farmed this land with his family for well over 60 years. He is familiar with farming techniques and machinery. Mr. Guy as he is known to all can always be found by the hay shed working on a tractor or underneath one. Mr. Guy maintains the pastures, builds jumps, repairs fences and anything else that someone might bring to his attention.
